My mother read me a quote many moons ago and it is one I remember and always will. If I do by chance forget well she refers back to it so often I doubt I will. So many peopl need to hear this because it protains to every situations. For I’ve never read such a quote that makes so much sense. You’ve got to admit we hear alot of things in our life time that we just hear once and nothing sticks. Its, “in one ear and out the other“, as some would put it. Everytime I am faced with a situation that often requires me to make a decision a little voice inside my head kicks in and reminds me of what my mother said to me as a girl…”its not what happens to you, its how you react to it that makes the difference” and boom I realize if I react in a negative way it won’t help any, but if I’m willing to put an effort in, something good will come out. Maybe a life lesson, maybe something as simple as respect from others or the grace enough to face another situation with the same strong will power, but none the less somethign always comes outt of these kinds of situations. We probably all have people in our life or have meet someone that just can’t see the good in anything or respond to a situation in such a negative way that makes everyone around them get annoyed or think differently of the person…I know I sure do. I hope that with that quote which I live by truly shines through and that I never lose repsect from people whether I know them or not based on how I handle a situation.
This pageant, to some may seem to be all giltz and glamour and in fact alot of it is. I am about to spend a week with incredible people with amazing stories and they all got to the same place as me because of their attitude. Our attitude can make or break us. It can open or shut doors. I always think how different a situation could have been if I would have reacted just even slightly different. Anyway the road to natioanls has come with its ups and its downs. I wouldn’t have it any other way though. I can not change the way people feel about certain situations or respond to things, but I can control me. And I have to make sure that I’m doing this for me not anyone else. I’ve heard that we cannot properly take care of other unless we take care of our self first. I don’t expect to win for this is an experience and as long as I make the best of it and take it all in I am satisfied. Believe it or not I am a simple girl, one who thinks alot and knows what is important to her. I speak from the heart, but think of the consequences of my words. I have realized lately who is important in my life and what I need to focus on. I am not wonder women, but I think I do a pretty good job as a listener and a person full of questions. It may be hard to believe but I am horrible at speaking. I really don’t get super nervous I just can not spit my words out. I know what I want to say but can not find them when the time comes. This is why this blog is becoming a great part of my life. I missed writing.
To all those who think of me different just because a crown was placed on my head one night I’m sorry you didn’t get to know me before. I hope my thoughts have somewhat opened people’s eyes to see that yes I am competing in a pageant, but that’s not even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to who I am. I am so much more, and I will always be so much more. Life can hurt espically when people pre judge. Find a solid place a place or person you can go to and that will remind you why you entered your life the way you have. Live life for you and keeping moving forward. “Run at life“.
The longer I live the more I realize the impact of attiude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, the successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. we can not change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on that one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you… you are in charge of our Attitudes”
